Our school recently held an event featuring a fun and engaging photo booth! Located outdoors under a blue tent, the booth was creatively decorated with various props and caution tape for a playful atmosphere. Students eagerly lined up to take memorable pictures, creating lasting memories of the event. The photo booth was a highlight of the day, providing a fun and interactive experience for everyone.

A variety of handmade crafts are available for purchase at the Home Economics booth, including beaded necklaces, fuzzy wires, and other unique items. The crafts are displayed on a table covered with a patterned tablecloth. Prices are clearly marked on individual signs.

Our class recently visited the school's Crop Museum. It was a fascinating experience to see the variety of plants and learn about their cultivation. The museum showcased healthy and thriving plants, highlighting the importance of sustainable agriculture. We also participated in some interactive games that tested our knowledge of different crops and farming techniques. The overall experience was both educational and enjoyable.

123 Years of Ilocos Sur National High School: A Celebration

Ilocos Sur National High School just had its 123rd founding anniversary, and wow, what a day! It's seriously cool to think that our school has been around for that long. It makes me feel like I'm part of something really big and important.

Celebrating this anniversary isn't just about a party; it's about remembering all the awesome teachers and students who came before us. They built ISNHS into what it is today, and we should totally give them props for that. It's like, we're standing on the shoulders of giants, you know?

Plus, it's a chance to show off what we, the current students, are doing. We got to show off our talents during the program, and it was awesome seeing everyone's hard work. It’s also a time to look ahead and think about what we want for ISNHS in the future. What kind of school do we want to be a part of?

Basically, the anniversary is a huge deal because it's a time to celebrate our school's history, appreciate all the people who made it great, and plan for an even better future. It's like a big family reunion, but with way more school spirit! Go ISNHS!

Embracing Challenges and Growth: My Fourth Quarter Journey

    This quarter, I gained valuable knowledge about Microsoft FrontPage, a tool for creating and managing web pages without requiring extensive HTML knowledge. I learned about its various components, such as the title bar, menu bar, toolbars, and web page window, which help in designing and formatting websites efficiently. FrontPage’s WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) environment made it easier to create and preview web pages without needing to code. Beyond this, I also improved my research, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills across different subjects, which helped me develop a deeper understanding of the topics covered this quarter.

One of the challenges I faced was understanding the technical aspects of FrontPage, especially how it integrates with HTML and how different elements function within a webpage. Additionally, time management was a struggle, as balancing different academic tasks alongside projects required careful planning. There were also moments of frustration when certain web page elements did not display as expected, making it difficult to achieve my desired outcome.

To overcome these challenges, I took a hands-on approach by experimenting with FrontPage features and watching tutorials to understand its tools better. I also sought help from my teacher and classmates whenever I encountered difficulties. For time management, I created a schedule to allocate enough time for each subject, ensuring I could complete my tasks without feeling overwhelmed. By staying patient and persistent, I was able to improve my skills and successfully complete my projects.

Moving forward, I will continue to enhance my knowledge of web development and explore other website design tools that can help me create more advanced and visually appealing web pages. I will also work on improving my time management skills by setting clearer goals and deadlines. Lastly, I will remain open to learning new skills and embracing challenges, knowing that every difficulty is an opportunity for growth and improvement.

15 Years to Go: My Journey Towards Becoming a Doctor

    It’s amazing to think about where I could be in 15 years. Right now, I’m 15 years old, a grade 10 student, and I’m in a special science class, which is where my passion for medicine really started to grow. I dream of becoming a doctor, and even though I’m just getting started, I know that the journey ahead is going to be full of hard work, challenges, and exciting moments.

I imagine myself in 15 years, maybe working in a hospital, helping people feel better, and making a real difference in their lives. Being a doctor means much more than just knowing how to treat diseases—it’s about listening to people, understanding their needs, and showing compassion. I can picture myself working with patients, explaining their conditions, and helping them make decisions about their health.

Right now, I know I have to focus on my studies, especially in science subjects like biology and chemistry. These subjects are going to be the foundation of everything I need to learn. I also know I’ll have to push myself to keep improving, whether it’s through extra practice, gaining more knowledge, or finding ways to grow as a person.

It’s not always going to be easy. There will be moments when I feel tired or unsure about the future. But I believe that as long as I stay focused and keep my goal in mind, I’ll be able to overcome those obstacles. The road to becoming a doctor will take a lot of years of study and hard work, but I’m ready to take it step by step.

In 15 years, I hope to look back and see how all those small efforts in school and beyond have built up to something incredible. I’m excited for the future, for the people I’ll meet along the way, and for the chance to help others as a doctor. My dream is just beginning, but I can already feel how much I want to make it come true.

Building a Fairer World: How WE Can Achieve Gender Equality and Inclusivity

    When we talk about “WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society,” it’s not just about supporting one group or cause—it’s about all of us coming together to create a fairer world. Gender equality means that everyone, regardless of whether they are male, female, or non-binary, should have the same rights, opportunities, and respect. But achieving this is not something that happens overnight. It requires all of us—men, women, and people of all identities—to take action and stand up for fairness.

In an inclusive society, everyone is accepted for who they are, without feeling excluded because of their gender, race, or background. We live in a world where diversity should be celebrated, not feared or rejected. Whether it’s in the workplace, at home, or in our communities, we can all contribute to making spaces more welcoming and supportive for everyone.

It's not just about policies or laws—it’s about everyday actions. When we treat each other with kindness, respect, and understanding, we help build a world where everyone feels valued. Simple things, like speaking out when we see injustice, supporting women and men in leadership roles, and challenging stereotypes, all go a long way.

So, let’s remember that gender equality and an inclusive society aren’t just goals for some—they’re goals for all of us. Together, “WE” can make a real difference by supporting one another, embracing diversity, and working toward a future where everyone has the same opportunities to thrive.

The Importance of Kannawidan Festival

The Kannawidan Festival is a special celebration in Ilocos Sur that honors the province’s history, culture, and local businesses. It helps preserve Ilocano traditions by showcasing folk dances, indigenous rituals, and traditional crafts, ensuring that younger generations learn about their heritage.

Aside from culture, the festival also boosts the local economy. Through trade fairs, farmers and artisans promote Ilocano products like Vigan longganisa, bagnet, sukang Iloco, and Abel Iloco fabric. The festival attracts tourists, helping businesses grow and creating jobs for locals.

Kannawidan also has religious and historical importance. It begins with a thanksgiving mass and reminds Ilocanos of their rich past and strong sense of identity.

Overall, Kannawidan is more than just a festival—it strengthens Ilocano pride, supports local businesses, and keeps traditions alive for future generations.

The Heart of Valentine’s Day: A Celebration of Love and Appreciation

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate love and appreciation for the special people in our lives. While it is often associated with romance, it is also a day to express love for family, friends, and even ourselves. Beyond grand gestures and extravagant gifts, the heart of Valentine’s Day lies in genuine acts of kindness and affection.  

The holiday traces its origins to Saint Valentine, a priest in ancient Rome. According to legend, Emperor Claudius II banned marriages for young men, believing that single soldiers were more dedicated to battle. Defying this decree, Saint Valentine secretly performed wedding ceremonies for couples in love. When his actions were discovered, he was arrested and later martyred in the 3rd century. His selflessness and dedication to love made him a symbol of devotion, compassion, and sacrifice.  

Today, we celebrate Valentine’s Day as a reminder to cherish and appreciate the people who bring joy and meaning to our lives. It is not just about lavish gifts or fancy dates but about expressing love in meaningful ways. A heartfelt letter, a thoughtful gesture, or simply spending quality time together can speak volumes.  

People express love in different ways—some give gifts like flowers and chocolates, while others prefer words of affirmation, acts of service, or warm embraces. What truly matters is that love is shown with sincerity and from the heart. While love should be celebrated every day, Valentine’s Day serves as a beautiful opportunity to make our appreciation extra special.

Our community-based research focuses on assessing and improving waste management practices in Barangay San Pedro. Embracing Challenges and Growth Through Learning

 Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of patience, teamwork, and problem-solving. There were moments when I struggled to grasp certain concepts and faced difficulties in organizing information effectively. At times, I felt overwhelmed, but I learned that perseverance and seeking help from others are key to overcoming challenges. By practicing more, asking questions, and working with my peers, I was able to improve my understanding and complete the tasks successfully.

This journey also taught me the value of collaboration. Working with others allowed me to see different perspectives and learn new approaches to solving problems. I realized that learning is not just about memorizing information but about applying knowledge in real-life situations. I also understood the importance of time management and staying focused to complete tasks efficiently.

Moving forward, I will continue to develop my skills, not only in academics but also in teamwork and critical thinking. I will embrace challenges with a positive mindset, knowing that each difficulty is an opportunity for growth.

The Chinese New Year is one of the most widely celebrated events in the Philippines, despite being a tradition rooted in Chinese culture. Every year, Filipinos eagerly welcome this occasion with vibrant festivities, delicious food, and symbolic customs. Vigan Cityhood - Vigan as a Municipality Then and Vigan as a City Now

 Vigan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a true gem of the Philippines. It has come a long way from being a small municipality to becoming the vibrant city it is today. This transformation is a journey worth celebrating, as it shows how history and progress can go hand in hand.

In the past, Vigan was a quiet town shaped by its Spanish colonial roots. Its cobblestone streets, beautiful ancestral houses, and a mix of Asian and European influences made it unique. People relied on farming, weaving, and traditional crafts like Abel Iloko fabric and burnay pottery to make a living. Even back then, Vigan’s charm and cultural significance were undeniable.

Everything changed on January 22, 2001, when Vigan officially became a city under Republic Act No. 8988. This was a big step forward, recognizing Vigan’s growth and potential. Cityhood brought better infrastructure, improved public services, and more opportunities for everyone. The local government also made sure to protect the city’s historical landmarks while welcoming modern development.

Today, Vigan is a bustling city that continues to honor its past. Tourists from around the world visit to walk along Calle Crisologo, climb the Bantay Bell Tower, or learn about history at Syquia Mansion. Tourism has boosted the local economy, providing jobs and supporting small businesses selling crafts, souvenirs, and delicious food. The city’s focus on sustainable tourism ensures that its heritage remains intact for future generations.

Becoming a city has also improved life for Vigan’s residents. There are better schools, healthcare, and facilities, all while keeping the city’s historical charm alive. Vigan’s journey shows how a place can grow and modernize without losing its soul.

Vigan’s story is one of pride and inspiration. It reminds us to value our history while building a better future. As one of the country’s most treasured cities, Vigan stands as a shining example of how progress and preservation can work together.

A Fresh Start and New Beginnings

 The start of a new year always feels magical—a chance to close one chapter and begin another. It’s a time of hope, reflection, and setting intentions for the future. This year, I approached the New Year with excitement and optimism, ready to embrace what’s ahead.

The days leading up to New Year’s Eve were buzzing with activity. We prepared a table of round fruits, a Filipino tradition said to bring prosperity, and hung up vibrant decorations to set a festive mood.

One of my favorite parts of the preparation was planning our Media Noche feast. My mom and I debated over which dishes to include. The anticipation of gathering around the table and celebrating together added to the excitement.

When New Year’s Eve arrived, the air was filled with joy and laughter. As the clock ticked closer to midnight, we gathered for Media Noche. The table was a beautiful spread of food, symbolizing abundance and gratitude. My family shared stories and laughter as we waited for the countdown.

At the stroke of midnight, the sky exploded with color as fireworks lit up the neighborhood. And before it stroke midnight, I tried the 12 grapes un the table trend, it's said to bring good luck—while others banged on pots and pans to chase away bad luck. It was a vibrant and joyful way to welcome the New Year.

This New Year, one of the most memorable moments was an singing with my family in the living room.

Another highlight was a heartfelt video call with our relatives abroad. Even though we were miles apart, sharing wishes and seeing their smiles made the celebration feel complete.

Looking back, the past year was filled with both challenges and triumphs. There were moments of doubt and uncertainty, but also times of growth and discovery. I’m proud of the small victories I achieved, from overcoming difficult tasks in school to building stronger relationships with my family and friends.

One lesson I carry with me is the importance of resilience and gratitude. Even in tough times, there were always reasons to be thankful.

A Heartwarming Christmas: My Holiday Experience

The main purpose of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ and to give thanks for the love, hope and joy found in Jesus, but, Christmas is also the time when we have family gatherings, having fun with our loved one,giving gifts, and eating together at Christmas Eve. 

The days leading up to Christmas are always filled with excitement in our house. We began decorating early, putting up a Christmas tree adorned with twinkling lights, shiny ornaments, and a star on top.

My mom, sister and I planned our Noche Buena meny, lising down the dishes we want to eat, and we even went to our church to attend our Sambang Gabi; our Sambang Gabi is different from what Catholics have, we will go to our church at Christmas Eve and worship the Lord, then listen to the preaching of the gospel.

On Christmad Eve, our family gathered for Noche Buena. The table was a feast of delicious dishes we prepared. The highligh of Christmas Day was rueniting with extended family. We shared funny stories, and indulged in another round of festive food.

While this Christmas was filled with joy, it wasn't without its challenges: but, through these challenges, I learned that the true esesence of Christmas isn't about the gifts, it's about love, gratitude, and the joys of being with the family.

                                    Reflection on Learning HTML, HTML Tags

As a student, learning about HTML, HTML tags, tables, and frames has been a rewarding experience. HTML is like the language of the internet, and understanding it helps me see how websites are created and structured. It’s exciting to learn how the basic building blocks of web pages come together to create the content we use every day.

HTML tags are especially interesting because they act like instructions that tell the browser what to do. By using tags for headings, paragraphs, images, and links, I realized how every detail in a website starts with just a few lines of code. It made me appreciate the importance of being accurate and organized while coding.

Tables were another highlight because they help present data in a clear and structured way. Whether it’s for organizing schedules or comparing information, tables make things look professional and easy to read. It’s a useful skill I can apply in creating school projects or presenting data effectively.

Frames, although less common now, gave me insight into how websites were designed in the past. They show how different sections of a webpage can be displayed separately, which was an eye-opener for understanding the evolution of web design.

Learning these topics not only gave me technical skills but also inspired me to think creatively. As a student, I now feel more confident about creating simple web pages and exploring the endless possibilities of web design. It’s a valuable foundation for future projects and maybe even a potential career in technology.

The Importance of RA 9262 and Other Laws in Ending Violence Against Women

The 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) is a yearly event in the Philippines aimed at raising awareness and fighting against gender-based violence. At the heart of this campaign is the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 (RA 9262), which protects women and children from abuse. This law is vital because it addresses different types of violence, such as physical, sexual, psychological, and economic abuse. It provides victims with legal help, protection orders, and support, giving them the courage to seek justice and rebuild their lives.  

Other important laws also support the campaign. RA 8353, the Anti-Rape Law of 1997, makes rape a public crime and broadens its definition to include situations where force, threats, or manipulation are involved, even in marriage. Another key law is RA 10364, the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012, which aims to stop human trafficking, especially for women and children, who are often the most vulnerable.  

These laws work together to protect victims, punish offenders, and promote respect for women and children. The 18-Day Campaign highlights these laws, ensuring people know their rights and encouraging everyone to take action against abuse. It’s not just about raising awareness but about creating a society where women and children are safe and treated with dignity.  

Through laws like RA 9262, RA 8353, and RA 10364, the campaign reminds us that ending violence is a shared responsibility. With awareness and teamwork, we can build a community where women and children can live without fear.

 Valuing and Honoring Indigenous Peoples: A Celebration for Students

National Indigenous Peoples Month 2024, with the theme “Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan, at Parangalan” (Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge), is an important time for students like us to learn about and appreciate the contributions of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the Philippines. This celebration also marks the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA), a law that protects the rights of IPs and ensures their culture is respected and preserved.

As students, this observance teaches us to value the rich traditions, wisdom, and practices of IPs. Their unique knowledge, such as sustainable farming, traditional medicine, and their way of caring for the environment, can inspire us to create solutions for modern problems like climate change. By learning about their culture, we not only discover new ways of thinking but also develop respect for their contributions to our nation’s heritage.

This celebration also reminds us of the importance of protecting their rights. Many indigenous communities face challenges such as losing their ancestral lands and discrimination. By understanding their struggles, we can stand in solidarity with them and support efforts to protect their way of life. Simple actions, like joining school activities about IP Month or participating in cultural presentations, help us honor their identity and stories.

National Indigenous Peoples Month is not just about learning; it’s about recognizing and celebrating the diversity that makes the Philippines unique. As students, let’s use this opportunity to respect, preserve, and share the knowledge and culture of our Indigenous Peoples. Through awareness and appreciation, we can help ensure their rights and traditions are protected for future generations.

 The 2024 National Children's Month theme, "Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines," focuses on the urgent need to stop violence against children. It calls for creating safe and nurturing spaces where children can grow without fear, harm, or abuse. This theme reminds us of the responsibility we all share in ensuring the safety and well-being of every child.

Violence has a serious impact on children’s physical and emotional health, often preventing them from reaching their full potential. Addressing this issue requires a united effort from parents, teachers, communities, and the government. By enforcing laws, raising awareness, and providing support systems for victims, we can take significant steps toward protecting children from harm.

Building a safe and child-friendly Philippines means promoting children’s rights, providing proper care, and ending harmful practices. When we prioritize children’s safety and development, we not only protect them today but also secure a brighter future for the nation.

 Climate change is a major issue in the Philippines, causing sudden and long-term changes in the environment that greatly affect Filipinos’ lives. The country often faces strong typhoons, rising sea levels, and unpredictable weather, which are worsened by climate change.

One main cause is the release of too many greenhouse gases due to activities like deforestation, pollution, and burning fossil fuels. Locally, problems such as illegal logging, poor waste management, and unplanned urbanization make things worse, leading to floods and environmental damage.

These changes harm people’s livelihoods, especially farmers and fisherfolk, by destroying crops, damaging homes, and disrupting food supplies. The rising temperatures and changing weather also cause health issues, like heat-related illnesses and the spread of diseases.

To cope with these challenges, Filipinos need to adopt sustainable practices, prepare better for disasters, and support solutions to reduce and adapt to climate change. By working together, we can protect the environment and secure a safer future for everyone.

A Time to Reflect and Act

 Environment Month serves as a reminder of our responsibility to protect and nurture the planet. It's a time to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage actions that promote sustainability. This year, I committed to small, impactful steps to contribute to the preservation of our environment, knowing that every effort, no matter how small, matters.
